Vietnam has quickly emerged as an attractive hotspot for international airlines, especially in the context of the booming e-commerce sector and the growing demand for international freight services. The robust growth of the e-commerce industry has driven demand for air cargo services, attracting the attention of many airlines to this market.
Carriers such as Qatar Airways Cargo and Lufthansa Cargo have announced plans to expand their operations in Vietnam. Qatar Airways highlighted that it has witnessed significant demand from the Asia region, particularly from Vietnam, and has increased its shipping capacity to meet this demand. Meanwhile, Lufthansa Cargo has launched a new flight connecting Frankfurt, Ho Chi Minh City, and Los Angeles, marking a significant step in expanding its network in the U.S. market.
Data shows that the volume of exports from Ho Chi Minh City to North America has surged, with a growth rate of 359% compared to last year, even though overall capacity this year has decreased by 22.1%. For Europe, cargo transportation capacity also reported a 30% increase in the past week.
Additionally, air freight rates from Vietnam are on the rise, with a 65.4% increase year-on-year for flights to the U.S. This indicates the growing attractiveness of Vietnam in the eyes of international airlines.
This underscores the growing appeal of Vietnam to international airlines.
